NWA Neglect in Baggage Handling

Posted by Gus on March 20, 1999 at 6:33:

Recent flight from Des Moines with a  stop over in Detroit continuing on to Dulles.  It was the same plane, but through passengers got off and the plane taxied two terminals over where they  would  reboard the same aircraft.  As a result of the incompetence and neglect of Northwest Air employees, the baggage of the through passengers was taken off the aircraft in Detroit and not put back on.  Consequently, it did not arrive at Dulles with the Northwest passengers.

Worse yet the Northwest employees at Dulles knew the baggage of five passengers was in Detroit, but had no way of knowing if it would be on the next flight arriving two hours later near midnight.  Why not?  Secondly, when I arrived two hours to meet the flight and get our babbage,  later there were no NWA employees at the baggage belt looking for the lost baggage anyway.  Anyone includig me could have walked off with it.

If the financial penalty was greater, NWA would make a better effort to eliminate the neglect of their employees in handling baggage.
