What NWA Customers Have to Say

The above post is absolutely accurate. NW's attitide and
behavior probably represents the epitome of arrogance, poor
judgement and flat-out incompetence I have ever seen in over 30
years of frequent air travel. As an expert who
evaluates the issue of damages (and I mean high 6-7 figure cases)
in personal injury lawsuits for plaintiffs and defendants and
testifies to them in court, I can tell you (just from the info
contained in the postings), that no jury would be sympathetic to
NW in this case, let alone a Wayne County jury. This is one
of the most liberal jurisdictions in the country and well-known
for their very high jury verdicts.
More importantly, and I did not want to turn this into a NW slam, either, although it probably can't be helped, one simply has to question the overall competence of those in NW mgmt. making the decisions that created the situation in the first place. The Act of God argument doesn't work. True, no one can prevent a snowstorm, but one can sure make decisions to take action and avoid the condequences of them.
Were there no other airports available for inbounds to divert to? Probably not. Did all inbounds declare emergencies to land at DTW? Probably not. Did NW have the board the pax and taxi out? Probably not. Could the pax have disembarked if necessary? Absolutely. I'm sorry. Anyone who thinks these pax HAD to be kept on the a/c is delusional. Get real. Where there's a will, there's a way. The problem with NW ops was, there was no will (to get the pax back to the teminal). If the facts in the press release are accurate, the conduct by NW is inexcusable and no rational person would accept arguments to the contrary. Perhaps this doesn't sound terribly objective, but the law of common sense still rules.
I hope the Wayne County District Attorney invesigates the possibility of filing criminal charges, as well, against the mental morons in NW mgmt who made the decision(s) leading to this catastrophe. Given the political ramifications of this, such action is probably doubtful. Still, there can be no excuse for such stupidity by anyone, let alone an entity such as an airline, any airline, which deals in life and death situations every minute of every day due to the nature of the business.
I have learned one thing from this. My WorldPerks card will be ripped up after this e-mail is sent. The bottom line...."Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me." NW will never get the opportunity, with me anyway, to do anything resembling what happened at DTW. NW better open up the checkbook and pray that mgmt does not wind up indicted, convicted and behind bars.
