First is the fact that Internet makes everyone a publisher by bypassing journalists and editors who may not find the story interesting or who may be unwilling to publicly criticize those who are well healed or have political connections.
Second, Internet is an inexpensive medium. Anyone can launch a site without their own domain name for as little as $10 a month. And with a domain name (advised), the cost may be as low as $20 per month. In my case I have a service provider which allows multiple domains, 100 meg of space, 25 pop e-mails, for just $40 per month plus a one time fee of $35 for each new domain created over 3. In addition, Internic collects a registration fee for each domain of $70 for the first two years, and $35 per year thereafter.
The real cost of having a web presence being the time to write and code the material in HTML for display on the web. It is best not to underestimate the costs in time. As of today I have four web sites.
| Site Name | Approximate hours Invested to Date |
| AAI Website Hijacked | 2000 |
| www.rjriley.com | 500 |
| www.NorthWorstAir.org | 400 |
| www.InventorEd.org | 7500 |
| www.Skippy-SCAM.org | 1700 |
| www.Taubman-SUCKS.org | 200 |
| www.ProAir-SUCKS.com | 50 |
HTML coding is not difficult, but creating and maintaining any web site is labor intensive. For many people, an investment of time is easier than spending money. For those people who have decent writing skills, and moderate programming ability, Internet is the great equalizer.
