WoW!  Do you hate Northwest Airlines or what??

I am a ** year flight attendant along with my friend who is a ** year veteran.  We have seen it good -  then bad and then go horrible to worse.  Just when you think it is going to get lower the bottom drops out.

In 1993, as I am sure you are very well aware, we gave concessions to the company to the tune of 900 million over 3 years.  WE, the employees, turned this company around.  Management would have you believe otherwise but we were responsible for getting this airline out of trouble and improving customer service.  Our problem is we FLIGHT ATTENDANTS seem to get the brunt of everyone's frustration because we are stuck with many mis treated, mis handled and basically pissed off people on long flights.  As I write I just got in from ***** and of course had several passengers on board all mad with NWA because they did not get upgraded. Their special meal was not boarded, *** finds out he paid $500.00 more for the same ticket than the guy next to him, the food is crap, there is not enough food, the baby is crying and will not shut up, I am going to miss my connection and on and on.  See WE employees really could give a damn any more because what pride is there in this company when all we have to offer is a sub standard product to our flying customers from check in to baggage pick up.  It is sad to hear FLIGHT ATTENDANTS who have been employee of the quarter say they do not care any more.   Why do we not care?

1)  John Dasburg exercises options on stock for a total of around 16 million and we have not had a raise since 1989.

2)  During our on going contract negotiations the company is holding out on every last dime when it is us who make or brake this airline. WE control this airline as far as true customer service and make the best with the product that we have to serve that you bought such as on time flights and a seamless travel experience.  True, some things cannot be controlled such as a plane breaking down or the weather but I would say more than not it is  management of this company that screws up.

3)  CFO Gary Wilson gets busted for "pot" in Boise Idaho.  What kind of leadership is that?

4)   All Checci, who got his ass wiped in the California Primary, is a greedy little man with bad hair plugs WHO takes over NWA and then has his own "Consulting Company" handle NWA.    He made 10 million the first year with that one.  Conflict of interest?  Pure greed.

5)  The company refuses any raises in line with industry standard while execs continue to make about 50,000 per month.

6) Sub par retirement as it stands.

7) During the concessionary period execs take bonuses while we are under pay cuts.  Please?  They want me to care???

8)  NWA hate us employees and consider us a liability.  WHY?  No raises or offering to let us share in the wealth.

9)  Our in-flight service has been cut so drastically to " stay in line with the market competition" that it is an embarrassment to serve the "food" we offer.  Out joke is in calling it the "hill billy picnic".

10) Detroit is a nightmare in which nothing seems to be being done about  it.  The whole state of Michigan is a pit any way in my opinion.   I can say that because I lived there 3 years.

11)  Passengers are constantly mis handled and no one cares because our company does not care.  You think I give a damn that Mr. **** did not get his kosher meal while I have not received a raise in all these years ALL THE WHILE our glorified NWA Execs take bonus after bonus????????  You think the gate agent "CHRIS" cares when you go off like a crazy lunatic .  I would have laughed in your face.  I use to care when I was responsible for turning this company around.  Do you blame me.  Have you ever had someone yell at you where you work and then expect that person to respect you?

12)  Have you ever had to pay your rent with a credit card because your company could not get your paycheck right????  Happened to me years ago.

13)  Have you had to deal with the flying public and cramped space they are stuck in.  It is a zoo at times.  I have seen fights, been sworn at, had my ass pinched by a male and female passenger ( I am a male), broken up arguments between passengers, thrown off drunks, handcuffed passengers because they were  on drugs and flicking matches on the floor, been sworn at for not having a special meal for the flight being late for not having diapers for a baby and too many other unwarranted curses thrown my way.  I have had to break up people having sex and escort people out of the bathroom so high on drugs they could not see straight.  THEN not have you company back you on these problem passengers.  Ever send a grown man come to the galley and piss in a garbage can drunk off his ass because he was drinking out of his own bottle.  Ever had to deal with a flight attendant who just got her breast grabbed by a perverted little asian man.  PEOPLE ARE loony these days!  I could go on and on but you know all the horror stories!  You want me to care?  My skin is thick after being treated badly by passengers and NWA.

I do my job as I am paid and do what is required of me but nothing more.  You will receive the best service if ever on one of my flights.  Deep down I do care about people or I would not have started this job but the general flying public these days are rude and could care less about there fellow man.  Would you bend over backwards for NWA in my position?  I did bend over backwards and all I got was my ass knocked over?  I am just frustrated as the next person who has been shafted by NWA.

I will continue to frequent your site as it is hard to believe the stories of passengers being treated as bad as they are.  I do not doubt the truth of it one iota.

I do understand.  That doesn't mean that I will likely ever fly NWA again, but I do have some empathy for the rank and file and I do understand that the real problem lies with management.  I will not use your name and I am going to eliminate the part about ******, since management may be able to zero in on you with that tidbit.  I wish you well and I hope you can get the hell out of NWA.  Shop and see if you can get into another company.
