NWA Has Some Good Employees - #7

Mr. Riley,
As a former flight attendant for NWA, I find your site of great interest. Indeed, NWA employees, like customers, are victims of the poor NWA management "with attitude" that trickles down to all levels of the system. For the 4th largest airline in the world, the last statistic I heard was that NWA was paying their flight attendants 9th worst out of the 10 major carriers in the U.S. For someone like me, who was only flying for a few years, it was still a fantastic experience. I traveled the world and served many satisfied customers, some of whom wrote letters of praise and others that shook my hand while deplaning, thanking me for the fabulous inflight service on the way to Europe, etc. I'll admit, on some occasions I had to compensate for poor service by other crew members. However, many of the senior flight attendants are stuck...they have families to support, and starting over is not an option for them as they see it. Northwest doesn't even give holiday pay! I met several flight attendants who hadn't spent Christmas with their children in over 5 years!
There is an overall poor attitude at NWA, and I'll admit that the overall service level at NWA is not acceptable and the upper management is absolutely to blame, 100%. I now fly on Continental. They seem to know how to run a fabulous airline....in all areas of their operation, and it begins with treating their employees right. If "Happiness is contagious" at Continental....so is the "abuse" by management at NWA on NWA employees, and it shows.
